Radial Shockwave Therapy at Linford Chiropractic
Radial shockwave is an acoustic pulse that is pneumatically generated. It causes the body to respond with increased metabolic activity around the site of pain. This increases the circulation and begins the healing process. The waves locally alter the chemical environment, stimulate the re-absorption of irritating calcium deposits in the soft tissue and induce a pain-relieving effect.
The shockwave stimulates the body’s natural healing process, thus reducing pain and having a lasting effect on the condition. It takes 3-5 treatments completed one week apart with follow up appointments 4-12 weeks after the completion of those treatments. Healing continues up to three months after the final treatment has been administered.
Radial Shockwave Therapy has been scientifically proven to help relieve chronic pain associated with the following conditions:
- Plantar Fasciitis (heel pain)
- Achilles Tendinitis
- Shin Splints
- IT Band Friction Syndrome
- (Hip) Trochanteric Bursitis
- Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow)
- Medial Epicondylitis (Golfer’s Elbow)
- Patellar Tendinitis (Jumper’s Knee)
- Rotator Cuff Tendinitis
- Calcific tendonosis
- Pain caused by trigger points or myofascial adhesions
Treatments
Radial Shockwave Therapy typically requires three treatments one week apart for optimal results. Most patients feel significant improvement of symptoms after only the first treatment. Treatment is carried out by passing over the injured area with the shockwave applicator. Guided by your feedback, the exact positioning of the shockwave applicator is determined for optimum results. The treatments last approximately five minutes and may be slightly uncomfortable, but are well tolerated by everyone.
